The Spartan Recoveries Senior Management Team is comprised of highly experienced individuals from the insurance industry now specializing in all aspects of subrogation recovery with noteworthy track records and believe that the growth and development of this sector presents many opportunities. Management has developed a network of contacts including insurance company executives, corporate executives, State Insurance Department and Liquidation Bureau executives, state appointed receivers, investment bankers, institutional investors, entrepreneurs, and attorneys. With this resource base, Management believes that the Company has the potential for continued growth and entre to specific subrogation opportunities. The Managers' philosophy focuses on active involvement and hands-on participation in identifying and closing on subrogation referral and subrogation purchase opportunities.


Kathleen J. Smith CSRP

Managing Director


Kathleen Smith has over thirty-eight years experience in property and casualty insurance claims. Prior to joining Spartan Recoveries (HCRG), Kathleen served as Director of Business Development for Aon Recovery responsible for marketing Aon Risk Management solutions, servicing new and established clients as well as providing subrogation awareness training. She also served as Director of Recovery for Subrogation Partners, the predecessor of Aon Recovery, for all lines of business, and in 2003 established its Workers' Compensation Recovery Division which grew the WC recoveries from 250K annually to 3.8M in two years.


Kathleen's experience includes multiple senior management positions in the casualty industry in the capacity of Assistant Vice President for U.S. Capital Insurance Company, Interboro Mutual Insurance Company, as well as Casualty Claims Manager at CIGNA. Her skills in organizational management, process management, and cost control measures have been an asset to Spartan Recoveries and their clients. Her current position at Spartan recoveries enables Kathleen to meld her claim skills with quality management, innovative recovery techniques, staff development and customer service.


Kathleen has a B.S. in Organizational Management from St. Joseph’s College as well as Minor in Human Resources Management. Kathleen possesses a New York State for Property & Casualty License as well as in Life Accident & Health and most recently received her C.S.R.P designation through the National Association of Subrogation Professionals.

Donna Geraghty

Business Development Manager


Donna joined Spartan Recoveries LLC in 2014 as Business Development & Client Services Manager after a successful career in a leadership role in the insurance staffing industry. Her past professional experience includes 15 years of P&C claims experience in adjuster and managerial positions. Her current role at Spartan Recoveries affords the opportunity to develop strategic partnerships with insurance claims professionals to successfully support their subrogation goals as well as being a client advocate to our current clients.  As a strategic planner with a strong focus on client fulfillment through effective communication, creative problem solving and total quality management, Donna has been recognized for results driven performance.


Donna holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from SUNY Old Westbury.

Angela Gutierrez

Project Manager


Angela Gutierrez joined AMSoft-Group as a programmer in 2008 and assumed the role of project leader in 2011. In addition to her facilitation of the Help Desk, Angela manages the AMSoft Development Team. She is adept at understanding the needs of the client and translating them to the software development team for program enhancements. Angela played a key role in the development of SpartanRMS™, our patent pending recovery management software. She is the “go to” person for projects companywide.


Angela’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, a Certificate in Game Development, both from Sacred Heart University. She is currently in a Master of Science program in Computer Science.

Joseph Milukas

Senior Manager of Technology


Joe Milukas has over 15 years of information technology professional experience. His current responsibilities at HealthCare Subrogation Group (HCSG) include application development, developing and implementing database modifications, and analyzing business processes to identify new opportunities to keep HCSG on the leading edge of applying information technology to maximize recovery yield.


Joseph is a Sun Certified Web Component Developer for Java 2 Platform and Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform. Joe earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Stern School of Business of New York University and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from The Cooper Union of the Advancement of Science and Art.

Bernard Roesch

Corporate Financial Controller


Bernard joined HCSG, Spartan Recoveries, AMSoft Group as the Corporate Financial Controller in 2012. With over 25 years of consulting experience as the co-founder and Managing Partner of MISSION Consulting Group, Bernard is an experienced financial, operations and software professional with expertise in accounting management, strategic planning and financial analysis. His extensive experience working in business environments of varied sizes and industries, including Fortune 500 companies, investment banks, the U.S. Department of Energy, and a portfolio of small businesses has made him adept at "pulling it all together" with an emphasis on complex business application integration.


Bernard has designed integrated performance measures for long-term forecasting, cash flow valuation and developed long term plans for a variety of business units and is an expert at building computer models to assess the economic feasibility, risk and financing alternatives of domestic and international project finance transactions. Prior to forming MISSION Consulting, Bernard served as the sole financial analyst of Condec Corporation, a $300-million high-technology, defense and heavy machinery conglomerate, and as a planning analyst for the Dixie division of American Can Company. He holds an MS and an engineering degree from Ecole Polytechnique (Paris, France) and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He speaks native French and is fluent in German.

John Valentino

Executive Vice President


John joined the organization as Chief Operations Officer in January of 2009, after having worked for over 25 years in the banking industry. Prior to joining HCSG, John held the position of Senior Vice President at Interstate Bank, in charge of Executive Loan Committee, Financial Reporting and was Senior Operations Officer. Prior to joining Interstate, John spent over 10 years as Senior Vice President of Lending for Main Line Bank, in charge of building commercial relationships in Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.


John has a Master's Degree in Finance from Drexel University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, also from Drexel University.

Brian Brumit

President


Brian Brumit is Founder and Managing Member of HCRG, which Spartan Recoveries is an affiliate. Mr. Brumit has extensive experience as a process management professional, with over thirty years of excellence in designing programs to improve operational efficiencies and directing high performing delivery teams for three national companies.


Prior to starting HealthCare Subrogation Group, Brian spent 16 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Managing Director and was a recognized leader in project planning and system delivery within the United States, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America.


In addition to his responsibilities at HCRG, Brian has provided consulting services for several large insurance organizations, published articles on claim cost management best practices and has been a guest instructor at a variety of insurance conferences.


Brian received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts and Sciences from University of Southern California in 1979. His studies also included executive education programs at Princeton University for a certificate in Strategic Systems Planning & Structured Analysis, University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) for a course in Management & Financial Analysis, and a seminar series in Technology & Product Strategy Development at the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
