Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company (PLM), the largest mutual insurer dedicated to wood-related businesses, is proud to announce that its President and CEO John K. Smith will be honored with the Distinguished Leadership Award at the Insurance Society of Philadelphia (ISOP) Independence Gala on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

The Distinguished Leadership Award is given yearly to an insurance executive who has demonstrated great leadership and character in his or her company, industry and community, providing ongoing support to charitable enterprises.

More than an awards dinner, the Independence Gala serves as a fundraiser for ISOP and as scholarship fund for local college students. The event also supports the community through fundraising for the Philadelphia Fire Department Foundation (www.phillyfirefoundation.org). This nonprofit was created by the leadership of the Philadelphia Fire Department to raise funds to provide smoke detectors and fire safety educational programs to the citizens of Philadelphia.
