Management

The Spartan Recoveries Senior Management Team is comprised of highly experienced individuals from the insurance industry now specializing in all aspects of subrogation recovery with noteworthy track records and believe that the growth and development of this sector presents many opportunities. Management has developed a network of contacts including insurance company executives, corporate executives, State Insurance Department and Liquidation Bureau executives, state appointed receivers, investment bankers, institutional investors, entrepreneurs, and attorneys. With this resource base, Management believes that the Company has the potential for continued growth and entre to specific subrogation opportunities. The Managers’ philosophy focuses on active involvement and hands-on participation in identifying and closing on subrogation referral and subrogation purchase opportunities.

Kathleen J. Smith, CSRP

Managing Director

Kathleen Smith has over forty years experience in property and casualty insurance claims. Prior to joining Spartan Recoveries (HCRG), Kathleen served as Director of Business Development for Aon Recovery Risk Management Solutions, Director of Recovery for Subrogation Partners, and established its Workers’ Compensation Recovery Division which grew he WC recoveries from 250K annually to 3.8M in two years.

Kathleen’s experience includes multiple senior management positions in the casualty industry.  Her skills in organizational management, process management, and cost control measures have been an asset to Spartan Recoveries and their clients. Her current position at Spartan recoveries enables Kathleen to meld her claim skills with quality management, innovative recovery techniques, staff development and customer service.  She has co-written over 12 published articles on subrogation related topics.

Kathleen has a B.S. in Organizational Management from St. Joseph’s College as well as Minor in Human Resources Management, possesses a New York State Property & Casualty License,  Life Accident & Health License and received her C.S.R.P designation through the National Association of Subrogation Professionals in 2012.

Donna Geraghty

VP Sales & Client Services

Donna joined Spartan Recoveries in 2014 as Vice President, Sales & Client Services Manager. Since then, Donna has been the face of Spartan to our clients, and a tireless “customer advocate” to make sure all of our clientele receive the service and results they expect.

Prior to Spartan, Donna served in a leadership role in the insurance staffing industry. Before that, she had over 15 years of P&C claims experience as an adjuster and in various managerial positions.

Donna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and she is a frequent contributor of subrogation related topics to industry magazines and has posted many interesting articles on LinkedIn.

Dawn Reckmeyer, CSRP

Director of Recovery

Dawn has over 12 years of experience in subrogation pursuit in addition to seven years of experience as a P&C claims associate at a national carrier. Dawn is responsible for supporting and enhancing management efforts to investigate and obtain recoveries for our clients.  She assists with quality control, training and provides technical guidance to the Recovery Specialists. Dawn has been instrumental in building our automated Arbitration Module and also works closely with our Sales & Client Services Team to continue to increase our client population, and provide support to our current ones.

Dawn has earned her CSRP designation from the National Association of Subrogation Professionals.

Alistair Shaw

Chief Technology Officer

Alistair has over 25 years of experience designing and building enterprise applications. He has managed complex project teams and partnered with business leaders to deliver customer-focused solutions. Alistair accepted the CTO role in June of 2018. Prior to this, he had been working with HCSG on a project basis, rearchitecting internal systems in anticipation of strategic growth and emerging security requirements.

Alistair started his career with Pricewaterhouse Coopers as an auditor and a consultant. He served clients in the retail, financial services, insurance, and manufacturing sectors, spread across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. He has held product marketing and management roles with Hyperion (now a division of Oracle) and has performed the CTO role in two technology startups. He has professional qualifications in accounting and finance, and in engineering. He is originally from the UK but now resides in Connecticut, USA.
